Johor Bahru, Malaysia – GSP Malaysia successfully hosted Battle at the Border 2026, a two-day international ultimate frisbee tournament that brought together 13 teams and more than 300 participants at Raffles American School.
Featuring teams from Malaysia, Singapore, and Kurdistan — along with players representing a wide range of nationalities and competitive backgrounds — the tournament highlighted both the growing global reach of ultimate frisbee and GSP Malaysia’s ability to organize, host, and deliver a strong international event.
From the opening pull to the final point, the tournament atmosphere stood out. Competitive intensity was matched with a strong commitment to the sport’s core principle, known as Spirit of the Game, creating an environment that was both high-level and sportsmanlike.
“The location and management of the tournament were excellent. We hope this becomes a yearly event.”
That sentiment was echoed across teams, reinforcing both the pilot event’s success and long-term potential.
A particularly meaningful storyline came through the participation of a Kurdish team whose players had previously trained with GSP personnel. Their return to compete on an international stage – and the clear progression in their level of play – underscored the impact of sustained development and cross-border collaboration.
For GSP Malaysia, the event also served as a platform to showcase its competitive disc brand, MyDisc.
“As the manager for GSP Malaysia, I’m proud of how our team’s dedication to excellence — and our MyDisc brand — were put on display on an international stage.”
The tournament was supported by a network of staff, volunteers, sponsors, and partners who ensured seamless execution across logistics, competition management, and player experience.
With strong feedback from participants and a solid operational foundation in place, GSP Malaysia is positioning Battle at the Border as an annual event — targeting increased team participation and expanded international representation in future editions.
GSP Malaysia sends a special thanks to Raffles American School for providing an excellent venue for this event and ongoing weekly training sessions. Planning is already underway for Battle at the Border 2027, with expectations set for an even larger and more competitive field.
